During this time of the year, we often find ourselves reaching for the warmest thing we can find in our closest. Most of the time, that is our weather-appropriate clothing rather than our fashionable attire.

Previously the cool weather would have called for us to put our heads before our hearts but that can and should be a thing of the past!

At Knitted we are here to show you how to layer up, stay stylish and, most importantly, keep warm and snug all day long.

Follow our top five tips to staying warm and snug this in our deliciously cosy knitwear.

1. LAYER UP!

Winter is all about wearing layers. Start with a thin base layer - our Audrey Knit is perfect - to trap warm air closer to your body.

Merino yarn has a natural crimp in the fibre that traps your body heat in air pockets around you so when you wear a fitted base layer your already one step into keeping your body warmth at a stable temperature.

While the base layer is the most important to keep warm, it wont have too much affect on your style when you are out and about.

When you get inside and start to take off your outer layers, when wearing the Audrey Knit as your base, you will look still look chic and fashionable.

The 100% ultra-fine merino knit is fitted through the body to pleasantly hug your figure and has a ribbed texture. The timeless low scoop neckline also reveals a womens feminine side when worn on its own.

2. Wear a V Neck - a timeless and chic style

Your second layer style could be a V Neck, a timeless style that has been worn by women over many generations. Try to invest in a n neck that has a percentage of wool or cashmere in the yarn.

Since this layer will be seen more, think about introducing texture, colour or patterns.

Our Jacqui Jumper is perfect for winter layering. Designed with an oversized V neckline, you can wear this style straight across your shoulders or dropped off one shoulder.

This style looks effortlessly chic with a base layer underneath whether that is a fitted love sleeve, a shirt or a singlet.

Our Jacqui Jumper can also be worn by itself for a more relaxed approach to fashion. The wider v neck is easily wearable, ultra feminine and stylish.

The blend in our Jacqui Jumper is a combination of merino and cashmere. This luxury fibre has an insulation capacity five times higher than wool.

On those extra chilly days we can assure you that our this blend will keep you extra cosy and stylish.

3. Wear an oversized cardigan as your top layer

Keeping comfortable and cosy in your winter outfit can still mean stylish. Try wearing an oversized cardigan over top of your sweater on the cooler days, or over your favourite collared shirt when its crisp but manageable.

Both tops look stylish when paired with jeans and boots.

It can be challenging for women to consistently wear outfits that are both weather appropriate and figure flattering during winter. Our top tip is to wear the oversized cardigan with a belt to create shape in the waist.

Try our Renee Cardi, it is the perfect balance between cosy and fashionable. The camel brown is the perfect neutral colour to go with everything already in your wardrobe.

Crafted from a double sided knit stitch to provide extra warmth as well as structure to the oversized shape, this cardi is a perfect heavyweight piece for layering.

Snatch it with a belt, wear it with a merino thermal or snuggle up in it on the couch, our Renee style is versatile for every moment through your day.

Don't forget, sensible can definitely still mean chic! Layer everyday during this cold season and you'll not only keep away the chill, but look stylish while doing so.
